AAUW Diversity Statement

In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.


Bon Air Branch of AAUW actively seeks new members from the Richmond metropolitan community. Any person who holds the equivalent of an associate degree or higher is eligible to join. AAUW is a strong network, not only in Richmond, but across the state and nation, of women who are working for issues of gender equity. Since its beginnings in 1881, with the purpose of providing funding for women to attend graduate school, AAUW, through its membership, has focused on the critical issues affecting girls and women: education, civil rights, affirmative action, reproductive choice, sex discrimination, Title IX, health care, and hate crimes. AAUW actively creates an environment for lifelong learning,
